Chapter: Chapter 1--The Malfoys

I join you in our common sdaness. I hope the author changes his or her mind about having abandoned this story.

Author's Response: I haven't yet abandoned this tale, although it is on hiatus while I work on other projects, including recovering from cancer. However, Harry and his friends have been on my mind more and more as of late and I can feel the beginnings of a new chapter swirling around in my mind. I appreciate all your patience and hope you will indulge me a little longer.

Chapter: Chapter 12--The Missing Chapter

I keep coming back to this story but no updates. I assume it is dead, which is a shame but I am going to delete it from my bookmarks. Sad.

Author's Response: No, the story is not dead. It has simply been on hiatus while I deal with such things as my third novel, cancer, and the death of my mother. So please hang around a bit and I'll continue on as soon as I'm able. Feel free to check my LiveJournal (Perpetrating Hooptedoodle) or my Twitter (twitter.com/lee_smiley) for any news on the story. I have been thinking about it a lot lately and, usually, writing follows closely behind such thinking.

Chapter: Chapter 12--The Missing Chapter

Ths is a good story. Waiting too long for updates is worse than undergoing the crutiatus curse!!

Are you a death-eater?

Author's Response: ::Pulls down the sleeve over his left arm:: Why, no, I'm not a Death Eater. How absurd! Actually, work on this story has been delayed due to the completion and current editing of my recent novel, my strenuous day job, and a family that, for some reasons, wants to see me every so often. However, I have been dabbling with the next chapter a bit and will hopefully not make you wait too much longer before I have something else added to the queue. I'm in between projects right now and hope to use that time to advance the continuing tales of Harry and company a bit further. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Chapter: Chapter 12--The Missing Chapter

Dumbledore ? Was there anything he didn't know? Was this more of what Harry found at his parents home in Godric's Hollow? I hope you have something for the queue when it comes back up. This is really excellent. I still think Dawlish is the bad guy.

Author's Response: Dumbledore was a very smart fellow. As for more to follow, I'll probably start working on the next chapter over the next couple of days as I finished another story yesterday (not HP-related, I'm afraid). Hopefully, this one will come much quicker than the last one and I won't have to rewrite it as many times. Thanks again!

Chapter: Chapter 11--Much That is Hidden

Wow, more secrets from Regulus. He was a regular double agent wasn't he? Will we learning the reason behind the release of the Permanent sticking charm????? Why wasn't Kreacher upset? You have another winner here.

Author's Response: Thanks again! I think the charm held all that time through a combination of the spell itself and the unyielding pride of Mrs. Black, almost as it she was holding onto the wall herself. When she learned the fate of her family, there was nothing left to hold on to. Kreacher, I believe, would have mixed feelings about the removal of the painting. On the one hand, he was treated relatively kindly by Mrs. Black, but seeing how well he could be treated by Harry and friends, he came to understand that perhaps we was not treated as well as he might have been, but had no benchmark by which to judge until Harry. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if Mrs. Black's painting wasn't still around somewhere, tucked away by the nostalgic Kreacher. Thanks again!

Ut oh. That was not good. But the chapter itself was brilliant. Please find a way for Harry and Ginny

Author's Response: Thank you yet again! As far as Harry and Ginny, what relationship doesn't have it's ups and downs and exotic other women?

Another good chapter. Personally I think it's Dawlish. Can't wait to find out. Must keep reading!

Chapter: Chapter 5--Dinner and a Show

All Right. Finally Arthur gets the recognition he has earned. Good chapter!

Author's Response: Thank you very much! I really think that the Weasley's have paid such a steep price for defending Harry and the Order that they deserved a little good fortune for a change.

Chapter: Chapter 12--The Missing Chapter

Finally, we got to read our missing chapter we were waiting for so long. Your writing is very good, please don't make us wait that long again.

Author's Response: My apologies. I've had many, many other things on my plate over the past several months, but hopefully I can get back on track and complete chapters on a more regular basis. I'm hoping to have another chapter completed by the time the queue reopens, but no promises. I thank you for your continued patience and the review.

Chapter: Chapter 6--Aurors Alone

I love this story so far. You've added a lot of twists to it. I love the fact that we all have to keep guessing ........

Author's Response: Thank you very much! Due to circumstances beyond my control, work on this project has been delayed, but I did pick it back up last night and will hopefully be able to send another chapter into the queue within the next week or so. Thanks again for reading and keep checking back for updates.

Chapter: Chapter 11--Much That is Hidden

Oh dear! I just stumbled on this story during my first foray back into Fanfic in a while and have absolutely fallen in love! This is brilliantly written and just downright wonderful. I love how everything you mention in passing becomes relevant later... everything ties together so very nicely. The characterizations are lovely and thoughtful, and I love the subtle humor. There is also this sense of gratification I get that fanfic rarely ever provides. This is just good. Really good.

I do hope that you are able to finish this story - it's too good to give up on. I'm just hoping the fact that it's three months after your last update isn't too bad of a sign.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. Work on this one has been delayed on other projects, including a novel that I hope will soon be published, but I have been working on it the last few days and will hopefully have another chapter in the queue soon. Thanks for the great review!

Ooh. It's nice to see the Malfoys humbled! Congratulations; you have me hooked.

Author's Response: Thank you! Now that I have you hooked, hopefully I can reel you in through the rest of the story. I'm working on chapter 12 at the moment and hopefully will have it submitted into the queue by the end of the week.

ooooo...ooooo....oooooooooo.ooooo...OOOOOOOOOOOOO what a twist! I like the plot of this chapter. Mystery and intrigue..I LOVE IT! I especially love the part of Harry rambling to his parent's gravestones....It fits that where we people most go to in times like Harry's...we go to our parent's Living or dead. This story is comgn along quite nicely if I do say so myself.

Author's Response: Yeah, um, thanks again!

Author's Response: Thank you very much, particularly for pointing out Harry's talking to his parents. I think one thing that most readers miss about Harry is that, despite his numerous friends, he had always been set apart from those around him. In a sense, regardless of who he has around him, Harry has always been essentially alone. Therefore, it came as no surprise to me that the people he would turn to in his time of need are those least likely to help him. Okay, maybe I'm too tired for that to make sense. If not, feel free to email me at leesmiley@gmail.com and I will try to explain when I am more awake. LOL

Chapter: Chapter 11--Much That is Hidden

Hey Lee,
There's so much happening here -- The Malfoys return! Another RAB object! The unsticking of Mrs. Black! I love how the plot seems to unfold so naturally in this.
But of course, I come back to the small things:
- Juxtaposing Harry’s interaction with his parents (albeit dead parents), with Draco & Lucius's interactions
- Harry staring at the black rose, reflecting on the commonality between himself & Draco
- Lucius’s “posture of defeat” realizing he no longer can control – or protect – his son
I can’t wait to read the next chapter. I hope we get a chance to see Luna ~ Remilupin

Author's Response: Thank you very much. I was kinda iffy about this chapter the first time or two I wrote it (I think we discussed this ;), but I think the finished product turned out okay, setting up well for future chapters.

lol - there sure is!!! great job, leesmiley - i really hope you update quick!!! *skipping in excitement*

Author's Response: Thank you very much! Now that I'm over the flu and working a semi-regular schedule again, I hope to update a little quicker. This one sat in the queue for a week and a half, but at least I didn't have to fix anything this time.

Chapter: Chapter 11--Much That is Hidden

this is my favourite chapter so far. The descriptive side is very well written and i like how lucius is somewhat afraid of draco.
please dont tell me that draco has become a death eater again. that would be VERY upsetting.
xx

Author's Response: Ah, but those old habits die hard, don't they? I'm very glad you enjoyed it and particularly the dynamic between Lucius and Draco. I think, as we grow older, it is interesting to see how our relatioships with our parents change. I think the Malfoys have a wonderful dynamic in this regard. We'll just have to see how it develops.

Nice developemants in this chapter. I was wondering what role Draco had. This story has a great deal of promise. I will enjoy seeing where it goes from here.

Author's Response: Thank you. This chapter changed radically from what it was in rough draft, but I think the final version works pretty well.
