Chapter: I do

This is so cute! I had a few tears of my own welling up thanks to the speeches, and this fic was just so very much like them. Great job!

I liked it. The part about Rich bothered me, but you did resolve it nicely.

Chapter: Four Weeks

Well, I'm glad she told Ron, but she doesn't seem sorry that she kissed him. She basically told Ron what happened and said "deal with it." I think it's hypocritical of her, because I really can't see her reacting very calmly if the tables were reversed. I mean, Ron and Hermione weren't even a couple when he went out with Lavender and look how she reacted. Now they're engaged and she kisses someone else, but she's not even sorry? That makes no sense to me and is very disappointing.

But I do think I pegged what was bothering me about this story in the last few chapters: it's all about Hermione and what *she* wants and feels. She wants to take a break. She takes a vacation and gets really close to another man. She decides that the wedding is back on. She decides to keep in touch with Rick even though it bothers Ron. It just doesn't seem like a relationship, it seems more like she's a dictator.

Ron bends over backwards to accomodate her every demand and feeling. He makes every sacrifice that he needs to make for their relationship to work. Does Hermione even make a sacrifice in the entire story? She's quite selfish actually. It makes me kind if sad because the relationship will never last if one partner is always the one that has to smooth things over when things go wrong. It doesn't matter if it's 5 years or 50, it will happen. I just hope Hermione doesn't go around kissing other guys after future problems! Ron obviously doesn't mind as much as me, though, because he's marrrying her lol.

The wedding was really great...especially the speeches. Hermione's dad's speech was particularly outstanding. It was also great seeing Ron, a fully qualified auror, getting so nervous about dancing!

Author's Response: I don't really think the Lavender situation is comparable because they have both matured a lot since then. During sixth year, they were teenagers dealing with their first real experiences of hormones and relationships and it's natural that Hermione would react like she did. Now they're both adults with considerably more life experience (if still rather new to relationships) and I think that changes things.

I also think it's unfair to say she isn't sorry. A lot of the action in this chapter happens 'off stage', including the discussion about the kiss which means you don't get to see how she explained her actions to him or how much she regrets them. By the day of the wedding, they've both moved on and he has forgiven her, which is why she is not allowing herself to be consumed with guilt etc. I didn't think it was necessary to show what would inevitably have turned into another shouting match. The most important (and relevant) part for the story was that Ron forgave her. And I think most men would have in that situation. It was barely a kiss, and it was something that happened in the heat of the moment when Hermione was particularly vulnerable. As for keeping in contact, perhaps that is indeed inadvisable but sometimes people do the wrong the thing.

Yes, this story leans more towards Hermione's perspective but I think that's because at this period in their lives she is the one going through a difficult time and in need of a bit more support, which initially, Ron isn't giving her. The story is a snapshot of their lives over a course of a few months and I don't think it's representative of their whole relationship. There will be times when he has to forgive her and times she has to forgive him. He makes sacrifices because he needs to, not just for her but for himself too. I don't think he ever has to give up something without recognising that there is a good reason for it. I also don't think he is a saint, and no doubt there will be times in the future when he makes mistakes or brings up hers.

I am glad, however, that you liked the speeches. They were probably my favourite part to write. ~coolh5000

Another thing that bugged me is that Hermione felt so bad about breaking Rich's heart when she stopped the kiss and for leading him on, but she doesn't feel bad at all regarding the fact that she was breaking Ron's heart or kissing another man.

Lol, I just had to get that off my chest!

PS: Is she even going to tell Ron about that kiss? I think he deserves to know...I bet Hermione wouldn't be happy if Ron kissed someone else, so I think she needs to be honest with him.

Chapter: Four Weeks

I really enjoyed this story...until this chapter. This story was very fresh, original, and interesting in the previous chapters...so to see everything get wrapped up with such a cliche was very disappointing.

This story detailed a very real and emotional conflict between 2 people in a relationship. It was very realistic, and I was just hoping that the climax of the story continued that trend. Instead, it felt like the story reached a time limit and had to be wrapped up as quickly as possible, and this was the only way to do it. Why was there even a conflict in the first place when the resolution was so obviously and easily attainable?

I'm sure others will like this ending, but it was a letdown for me.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review(s).

Given that it took me three years to write this story, I think I'd disagree that I suddenly found myself imposing a time limit - I would have carried on for much longer if I thought I could (or needed to). I think I always planned for this story to have a happy ending and this is how I happened to get there. I'm sorry you found it a let down. ~coolh5000

:) Beautiful, just beautiful! I knew they ended up married, but I was still worried there for a little bit. After all, their kids are younger than Harry's and Ginny's. For all I knew, they could have broken up for a little bit. I'm glad they worked it out, though. It was good to reread this story. I had forgotten a few of the key points.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review, and for rereading - I'm not surprised you forgot things after nearly three years! It's great that you came back to it though - hopefully the final chapter will be up very soon. ~coolh5000

That was so sweet and romantic, I'm grinning broadly! And I'd like a hot, good-listening Australian surfer of my own, please. ;) Seriously, when he appeared I though "OH NO" but he was lovely. I felt bad for him by the time Hermione was telling him everything about Ron! What a nice guy-good job not making him unlikeable. And lovely job with the ending. I could not only feel Ron's nervousness, but I could totally picture them running toward one another, stopping, and then that kiss. YAYAYAY! So, so nice. I'm glad they've resolved things. Can't wait to see how it wraps up. Nice job!! ~Gina :)

Author's Response: Thank you :) I realise the Australian surfer was a bit of a cliche, but I needed someone a little bit too good to be true to make Hermione realise exactly what she wanted (and you know, he was totally fun to write). I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter - hopefully the last one will be up within a week. ~Hannah

Going really well!! Not the usual lovey dovey stuff i usually read, you're keeping me hanging on, desparate to read more and find out what happens next. Keep it coming! =)

Author's Response: Thanks :) It's going to get a little fluffier towards the ending but I'm glad you've enjoyed the tension in them middle. Hopefully the final chapter will be up within the week. ~coolh5000
