Not a bad read, but no, I don't support this ship either.

I enjoyed that, both reading the fic and considering it's effects on the canon. Great characterisation, by the way.

Author's Response: Hahaha! :D I am glad you enjoyed it and liked the characterisation, especially considering how crazy the idea of those boys getting together is.

Oh gosh...when I realized whom Severus was meeting in the park, I have to admit that I burst out laughing. However, I genuinely liked the rest of the story. There was real emotion, especially in the dialogue, and it was very well-written. Also, it gives a whole new meaning to why Snape's Patronus was a doe..."Always" indeed. :D

Author's Response: Thank you for the review! It was a laugh writing it. :D

Natalie!

I bet you're getting sort of annoyed with me at this point. Lol. ;)

Well, that was interesting . . . . .

Of course, I enjoyed reading it. This was a real fun read. It was a blast to read this fic, and I had so much fun.

Severus/James . . . . never a big ship of mine . . . . . Of course, you did a fantastic job with it though. I just can't quite stomach this ship. Hahaha.

I really like how you kept it subtle. They weren't like all over each other. ;) But you know what I mean. That made me enjoy it a lot more because it wasn't like gross.

It was a really well written Severus/James too. It was totally in character and awesome.

I just don't really like that ship but I knew I had to read yours. And I loved it!!!

*Hugs!!*

-Megan

Author's Response: Hahaha! This ship...doesn't exist, don't worry. ;) My main intention was to disgust readers, I think, with the very idea of picturing those two coming together which, even in my own mind, is...NO NO NO! Just no. And I am NOT annoyed with the reviews, are you mental? Hehehe. Such good things to wake up to. :)

I did enjoy the story, though. Very well written. Just the thought of... no... no... ugh. XD

Author's Response: Haha! While I am sorry about making you retch, I'm also happy you thought it was well-written. :D But, yeah, terrible ship, isn't it? *shudders* Thanks for reading and reviewing!

This fic is well written but I hate the ship with a loathing. Another thing - I think that the rating should be raised to at least 3rd-5th years because of the language.

~Soraya~

Author's Response: Thanks for reminding me about the ratings. I thought I had capped it at 3rd-5th, but...hmmm...I obviously hadn't. And, to tell you the truth, no one really likes this ship. That's the point of the whole fic. :)

Although I don't approve of the ship, that's not to say it's not well-written. Besides, I'm very fond of James and Lily... so I may be a bit biased. Still, I enjoyed the read.
PS- I think you meant to type "Head Boy's" not "Head Boy'd." Typoes happen.

Author's Response: Hello there!

James/Lily is my OTP. :D I should have mentioned that in my summary or something. And I definitely do not favour THIS ship, of course. Thank you for pointing out that typo, and thank you for the review, too. :)

Ok, I wasn't going to weigh in on the ship issue, since your writing is some of the best I've seen in fanfiction, but I just thought I'd say something. The thing many people don't remember is that animosity can often be used to hide romantic- or sexual- attraction between two characters. Look at Ron and Hermione at the beginning of Sorcerer's Stone! I do not personally support this ship, but I think it's about as plausible as any other silliness in fanfiction. After all, Snape and McGonagall had quite a fan base!

Author's Response: Your first line made my week, you know. :) Thank you so much!

Ahhh...I definitely agree with what you said about Ron and Hermione. Some people argue that since those two are constantly arguing, they aren't healthy for each other or they would never be attracted to each other. And, lol, I don't personally support this ship either...that might have been a bit obvious already. :D

Thanks again for the review!

Oh, come on now, if you're going to ship these two, even for a joke, you really ought to make love win out in the end...

And really, wouldn't he hate James as much as he did for marrying Lily if he HAD been in love with him? Not that I ship these two. Ultimately, I end up shipping Severus and an OC no one has heard about yet, but still, logically, this could work. And not even a kiss...

Author's Response: Believe me, I thought of having them kiss, but my fingers just wouldn't type the words. Egad! (Plus, I'm sure someone we both know has a smutty version festering in her mind.)

Yeah, that's Snape. A bit jealous and possessive. He'd definitely have hated James later on, even if he knew he had had his part to play in their break-up.

Thanks for the review. It gave me a laugh. :D

Natalie,

You know, the point of reading fan fiction that you don't have to follow the grind. Many people don't do that and they come up with these outrageous pairings for no reason. Pure putting words on paper crap. That's not the problem. I view fan fiction (much to the disappointment of whiny teens) as practice writing.

That being said, none of iof think that James and Severus would follow this path. Of course, I agree with whoever said that JKR wrote like Shakespeare in that her things carry double meanings.

It's a funny piece that I'm sure your LJ friends adored. I like that it was plausible and 'loyal' to canon. Please. The number of people who beat the whole Remus/Sirius thing to death? Really?

The best part is that you kept that characterisation. I loved that they entered this park. Not only are you touching on Snape's memory, but you're not pulling this out of your butt. You put real thought into it. We all get a laugh.

The point about fan fiction is that it needs to be loyal to the author and written WELL. Never write just to write.

You accomplished that.
Don't sell yourself short. Have your laugh.

Peeled any potatoes lately?

Well done.

Kuri

Author's Response: Hello there,

Mmm...while I do think fanfiction is a form of "practice writing", I wouldn't described it in that way alone. :D The thing is, I love writing fanfiction, not merely to hone my skills, but because it gives me a lot of happiness and allows me to indulge a bit more in my favourite fandom. :) Plus, I've got so many new friends because of it (although that is a different story).

About the canon part, I can't help it. It's just the way I function, you know. I HAVE to make it as loyal to canon as possible, and that's why I had them breaking up in the end. I'm glad you thought the characterization was in sync with canon because that is another thing I'm careful about. And I do think non-canon pairings are great to read as long as the characters are recognizable.

Oh, I love your line that "The point about fan fiction is that it needs to be loyal to the author and written WELL. Never write just to write" as there are quite a few fanfiction-writers who do it only for wish-fulfillment. One might agree that THAT is the whole point of this genre, but really, where's your credibility if your characterization has gone way beyond what is there in the books? Hello there,

As much as I know you’re going to hate to hear this, but JKR is famous for taking little things that we have assumed to mean one thing and twisting them into something quite different. Just look at all those overheard conversations that are out of context the first time we read them. As a thought-provoking spin on the animosity between Severus and James this really follows Jo’s template. Just think of the new reasons for Severus to hate James: for dying on him, for marrying Lily (which would have been a double-betrayal, I suppose).

Just so we’re clear, I don’t support this ship, either. But there’s no doubt you have presented a viable, if unexpected, interpretation. Please don’t hate me for playing the devil’s advocate.

Author's Response: No, no! I don't hate hearing sound theories like yours. I do love James Potter and I certainly do not hate Severus Snape. :) It's just I get mad when people make the latter out to be more than he is. *shrug* Yes, I agree that JKR does have that streak; she is constantly surprising her readers.

"Just think of the new reasons for Severus to hate James: for dying on him, for marrying Lily (which would have been a double-betrayal, I suppose)."

This made me laugh because I was thinking about the same thing while I was writing. :D

Okay, so I don't do reviews--and honestly can't remember the last time I even logged in--but obviously I'm giving you one right now. The point? This was actually hilarious, as well as touching and well written, even if you never intended it to be. And I don't ship this either, and haven't even seen it before. Very interesting!! And a great way to waste a couple of minutes--I'm walking away (virtually that is) thinking they weren't a waste. Self amusement can have very good results, yeah?

Author's Response: Oh! I seriously love your review. :) It's great to know that you enjoyed my joke that much. Yes, self-amusement does tend to give good results at times.

What do you mean, you don't support the ship Stop scuppering it. This is the only ship that makes sense! Jape or Snames or whatever you want to call it. Now then ... where is The Tell-tale Hart ... I had a banner somewhere.

Natalie, it seems you'll get more reviews for this than anything else - ha ha - I know it was a joke, but you shouldn't write so damn well that you make it plausible.

I will forgive you ... but I doubt Prongs will.

~Carole~

Author's Response: I love both Snames and Jape! :D And I really think you should do the smutty version. ;) You're right, Prongs would detest it. So would Severus. EEP! I dunno who I am more scared of. :(

I'm glad you put it up here :D

Hm, short review... but what else can I say about this... Well done, especially taking into account the eh peculiarity of your starting point.

I wonder what Sirius thinks about this...

Author's Response: Hahaha!

Well, the feedback from you guys gave me the strength to commit this horrendous act. :D Reviews of any length are appreciated :D. And poor Sirius would be totally pissed. Then again, if the real James and Severus were to read this...*shudders*

You're right, this is a horrendous ship, but it didn't detract from your obvious potential as a writer.

Be careful of simple mistakes with spelling, punctuation, et cetera, but on the whole a noble effort at sculpting titanium =]
