I love it! This was well-written and very cute. Great job! xo MJ
Lovely one shot. I do think that Hermione would keep nagging Ron even though they are together. But I actually think Hermione cán cook. Not really imiganitive, but I guess that before she went to live on her own, she would have read all the cooking books available ;). Hermione wants to be good in everything, so that would include cooking. however a funny story about Hermione and Ron
Author's Response: Hi there. I do think Hermione would be capable of cooking the basics. She would make sure she could do a few things, of course. But I think that with Ron being used to Molly's cooking, poor Hermione would suffer by comparison. Hehe. I'm so glad you enjoyed this -- thanks for reading and taking time to leave a review! Sorry I'm so tardy with the response!
How have I missed this? Well, I probably saw this in TTB at the time, but how did I never read the complete oneshot? Bad bad EQ!!
Lori, I don’t know if you saw my ls status yesterday, but it read
I am LOL’ing for real at a story. Hahahahahahahahaha
And it was this story I was lol’ing at. From this line on
“Yeah, right. Well, that’s probably because Doomsday Prophecies make birthdays more memorable.”
I was completely and utterly hooked. Seriously I was grinning and giggling so much that Jim thought I was mad. I honestly don’t laugh out loud much when I read things, but this made me chuckle.
Hannahhhhhhh, ah the gloriousness that is the lovely Hannah Abbott/Longbottom. I really liked the brief light you gave into her friendship with Hermione here. It would have been easy to use Ginny, here, but you went for Hannah and showed us that Hermione has other friends, and also that Hannah is not a timid wallflower anymore but someone capable of teasing Hermione about her cooking -- hee hee. I really can’t see Hermione being able to cook at all.
You know I love Ron/Hermione. I find them very believable and a match from the start, so I’ve never really shipped them with other people (okay, I had a brief flirtation with Dramione, but you know now that I still kept it canon). This story is short, but you captured them both so well. This is how JK would write them. The humour, the faults (on both sides), the earthiness and also their sexual attraction. I love that we know exactly what they’ll be doing once they get back from the party (I bet they make an excuse and leave early -- hahahahahahahhahaaha)
Lori, this is a poor attempt at a birthday present. It is very much in lieu of a gift that I haven’t been able to deliver yet, but it will be written and wrapped especially for you one day -- hopefully soon. You deserve much love, fun and happiness on your birthday, so I hope you enjoy your day.
Much love, and never forget how much you excel at this type of story. Gentle humour that produces real laughter cannot be overestimated. FABULOUS! ~Carole~
Author's Response: Caroleeeeeee! I know I must have responded to this on AIM as there was chatting on my birthday for sure, and I remember being thrilled that this made you laugh out loud... but still, I'm ashamed to see that I never actually left you a proper response. Boo! :) I love that you love Romione, and you are right! They will definitely leave the party early! Hahahaha! I imagine them having a strong sexual attraction, long into marriage. (They deserve it, after waiting so long to get themselves figured out.) This is a poor response, but I must say how much I always appreciate your reviews, and the fact that you cared enough to seek out something to read and review on my birthday (11months ago--oh dear). And it was even followed by a lovely fic, too. You are a dream. <3 Thanks again!
love. unbelievable. you and your writing and your ideas are unbelievable!!!
Author's Response: Aw, thanks. :)
Well done! I know you have probably heard this before, but I will say it agian. That was cute, fluffy, funny, and extremely fun to read, as I absolutely adore R/Hr. Good job!
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
When I read this and they made their resolutions, I was thinking that there was no way they could keep their resolutions. It was a very cute one-shot and I love this story.
Author's Response: If I'd let them keep those particular resolutions, I think they would have been quite out of character. ;) Thanks for the review--I'm glad you liked it.
very cute! write more one shots like this :)
Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
Another brilliant story, as always : ) I love reading about Ron and Hermione because they remind me of my relationship with my husband, and you write their characters so well! Keep them coming, thanks for sharing!
Author's Response: Haha... they you and your husband must be both funny and adorable. Hehe. Thanks for always coming back to my stories, and for taking the time to review. I appreciate it!
it was so obvious that they wouldn't be able to keep their resolutions LOL
Author's Response: Yeah, they didn't have a chance with these. Thanks for reading and reviewing. ;)
I swear you write these to make me squee. Honestly, Lori, how am I supposed to keep my non-canon card with you around? First of all, I'm so glad you put this up on the archives and second, I absolutely love the innuendo at the end. I can imagine Ron and Hermione having cheeky banter like that after they've been bickering. This is so sweet and the resolutions are just perfect for both of them. Fabulous, as usual, Lori.
Author's Response: Julia, I can't believe I never responded to these reviews! Yikes. Well, thanks as always for reading and reviewing. It makes my day when you squee over things that aren't your normal cup of tea. Thanks for always encouraging me to turn these things into one-shots. With this one especially, I'm very glad I did. :)
aww.... you made my day by bringing up another R/Hr fic. they really needed to realize that thats the way they're supposed to be :)
Author's Response: Thanks so much -- I'm glad you liked the story. :)
This was really sweet!! I loved your characterisations of Ron and Hermione - just perfect. The resolutions you picked for each of them were just genius, and the way you tied it together in the end and showed how no-one needs to be perfect was really beautiful.
Your writing flows really well, and I love the little details in this, like how Hermione begins by commending Hannah's cooking, and then Hannah suggests that she make that her resolution.
Just one small thing - I think you forgot to tick the "completed" box, as the page says this fic isn't completed, and I assume from your author's notes that this is a one shot?
Anyway, spot on characterisation and very funny but also endearing. Loved it :).
Author's Response: Hey Katrina, thanks as always for the thoughtful review. I thought I had already responded to this, so I'm sorry I'm just now getting to it. I had a fun time with this one, which was originally a drabble. I like to think their bickering became a little less harmful into their married life, such as this scene I've imagined. I'm glad you caught that error on the submission form--thanks, I've changed it now. :) Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to review!
Very cute and in-character. Great job!
Author's Response: Thanks!
Too cute! No grammatical errors that took away from it, and that's always nice. Great job! Great writing!
Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. :)
That was adorable! I loved the end, the subtle little implication Ron made. Too funny! And I really liked this line:
"as tall as Hermionally possible"
I doubt it's a real word but it's hilarious, lol.
Very cute - you picked the perfect resolutions for both of them, of course. And of course they were destined to fail. Now maybe Hermione should try cooking. ;)
Lovely job, Lori! ~Gina :)
Author's Response: Hey, Gina! I actually sat with my finger over the "backspace" key, thinking about changing "Hermionally" because I was afraid the mods wouldn't go for it. But I got lucky! :) Hehe. I definitely think Hermione should try cooking next... much easier than letting up on Ron. Thanks, as always, for the read and review, friend! ~ Lori
You're back! YAY!
As always, I think you nailed the characters. I just love those two.
Author's Response: Thanks for always reading and reviewing -- I appreciate it! :)
Author's Response: :) Thanks!
