cut out my heart and leave it out in the snow, would you? Very sweet and a wonderful insight to the everyday Potter household. My jealousy in your writing grows.
Author's Response: Dinny dear <3 Thank you for stopping by! I'm happy you enjoyed this little snippet into the Potters' lives. And speaking of envy, my jealousy of your eye-candy artwork has soared. I'm going to request a banner soon from you if that's okay? xx Ariana
That is extremely cute, though it was lso rather sad that Lily nevr did get to hand out treats or take her son out to Trick-or-Treat. I like when Harry bit his dad's finger.
Author's Response: Yay! I'm glad you thought it was a cute story. I think the saddest part about the deaths of Lily and James is that there was so much of their lives they hadn't lived yet, and I tried to give a hint of that through this. Thanks so much for reviewing! xx Ariana
Hi. I've never read any of your work before ?(have you written any) so I didn't really know what to expect, but I was really pleased by what I read :)
The only problem I had with this story was the mention that James could not hold his drink. I didn't find that exactly true, because I always imagined James being the one sneaking out to go get Rosmerta's mead and drinking the whole bottle (I could be wrong though).
I really did enjoy this fic, though, and the spelling and grammar problems were minimal. I haven't read anything on MNFF in a while, actually, and this was a good 're entry' into the world of fanfic. ;)
Author's Response: I have written other fics, and this is by no means my best (you should check out my author page, ha ha). It's much more lighthearted and normal than what I usually write. Thank you for reviewing! xx Ariana
This was so sweet and really enjoyable to read. I love stories that feature Lily & James post-hogwarts, so this definitely hit the spot. Of course it is depressing knowing what happens to them down the line, but I like to think that they were a genuinely happy couple before they were killed. And as always sirius makes me swoon. Great job and very well written!
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it! I love Lily/James stories as well, although they always feel a little depressing to me, as you said, because of what happens in the end. Sirius makes me swoon as well ;). Thanks for the review! xx Ariana
I loved it, but at the same time it felt very bittersweet for me too. The part about Halloween being Lilys favorite holiday made me feel a bit sad. :( Anyway, excellent job, very well written. :D
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I know, I couldn't help making it a little bit sad, having Lily's favorite holiday be the one she was murdered on. On the other hand, it's nice to think that they weren't always surrounded by the fear of death and dying and that they dreamed of having a real future. Thanks again xx Ariana
It's really cute... Love to read stories with Lilly and the Marauders, especially when they are very carefree.
Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it! I like those kinds of carefree stories, too…the other ones seem too heavy. Thanks for the review. xx Ariana
Oh, I really enjoyed this, Ariana. What a fun evening you have portrayed here, and a normal one at that. Kind of ironic because I think Harry always wanted a normal life, and would certainly not remember something like this. *sigh*
Nice characterization and humor, and setting it a year away from what we know happens... you don't have to say much at all to make us feel the weight of the future and what is coming for all of them. I want this little snapshot to be canon. Lovely read!
Author's Response: Lori! Thank you for stopping by :). I'm so happy you enjoyed the story! I was hoping to portray a 'normal' moment in their lives, but I was worried after I submitted it that it might come across as too boring. And that's so funny that you mention Harry always wanting a normal life, because that's kind of what I was thinking of towards the end. It's sad, because he *did* at one point have a normal life, but it didn't last :(. Thank you again, so much for the review - it meant so much :) xx Ariana
I mean, I loved the fic. It's perfect for Halloween. It's just the events of the next Halloween mortifiying me. :/
Lovely one-shot, though. :) I enjoyed reading it!
Author's Response: One of the things I love and hate about Marauder-era is that everything is shadowed with the knowledge that nothing lasts. I'm glad you enjoyed reading it anyway; I tried to keep the gloom to a minimum :D xx Ariana
This was a very enjoyable story - it was light, but also excellently written. Your characterisations of all three were fantastic and the dialogue really seemed to flow between them seamlessly and naturally.
I think this was just a beautiful moment to capture - as other reviewers have said, there is a bittersweet tone to it, especially in the line “We’ll take him out next year,” James promised, stretching an arm across her shoulders. “All of us - I refuse to let Remus and Peter take our holiday shifts next year.” - because of course we all know where they all are the next year. But nonetheless, I think you really showed their happiness despite the war. This story is a lovely reminder that these three characters were young and could enjoy themselves, despite the tragedy which later surrounds them.
Also, I loved all the humour in this - particularly the swearing - it was amusing but also felt very natural for the characters to be saying.
Anyway, I think I'm starting to repeat myself... this was a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read!
Author's Response: I squee-ed when I saw I got a review from you :). Thank you so much for commenting on the story - I'm glad you thought the characterization and humor were nice, especially humor because I feel like that's where I struggled the most. I'm also happy you thought it wasn't entirely sad; I wanted it to be more of an uplifting story in seeing how the Marauders weren't always shrouded by darkness and death. Thank you again for your lovely review! xx Ariana
Loved it! I really enjoyed it! Please write more!
Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing! I will probably write about the Marauders again some time in the future in another oneshot. xx Ariana
Such a lovely lovely one shot! I love how you have captured the atmosphere, it's perfect. Its so cute and festive.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you think it still turned out well, I hadn't touched it for little over a year when I stumbled upon it :). xx Ariana
Awwww, this is lovely. A sweet adorable story about Halloween which is also amusing. A real snapshot fic where you've caught perfectly a certain moment in time - Lovely.
And then it gets all sad :( because you mentioned the next year and what they want to do. I gulped a bit, as I always do when I read James/Lily with Harry stories because it is so tragic that they were murdered.
,br> Thank you for expanding this. I enjoyed it, a lot. ~Carole~
Author's Response: I know, that's why I find it difficult to write Marauder-era so close to their deaths, because it's so much more sad to think that they're at the end of their lives already. The original drabble didn't even reference the next year, but I'm mean and spiteful so I put it in. I'm so happy you enjoyed this, though :). And, as always, thank you for taking the time for leaving a lovely review. <3 xx Ariana
Nice time they can spend together before everything changes.
Author's Response: Yes, that's what I was hoping to capture - the eye of the storm :). Thank you so much for reviewing! xx Ariana
