The only words that come to mind after reading this story, is wow wow wow! It was so descrpitive and it gave Narcissa a dark side. In the books it didnt really show Narcissa having anything to do with the evil side or even using the unforgivables, but this shows what happens when you mess with Narcissa!
Great story and a wonderful read!
Author's Response: Oh yay, thank you! I'm glad you liked it - Narcissa was rather interesting in the books so it's fun to go and sort of paint her character a number of different ways. I'm glad this one worked. Thanks for reviewing! :)
This story left me absolutely breathless. I loved it. The style had a great flow that left the reader sort of shocked and breath-taken. I really, really loved it.
Author's Response: Thank you, I'm glad you liked it! :)
I am on a Norah Jones kick right now, so when I saw the song lyrics in the summary I had to click on this story. And I am so, so glad that I did.
In the books Narcissa isn't really given a dark side (and I know this sounds off because she was married to a Death Eater, but apart from her nastiness in GoF we don't really see her doing anything horrible herself). I think that's part of the reason I fell in love with this fic so quickly. It's so easy to paint Narcissa as a delicate flower, obsessed with being safe and secure. This story completely counteracted that notion. You gave Narcissa a sort of strength and vindictiveness I haven't seen yet, and it worked brilliantly.
Your writing itself took my breath away. I had kind of guessed what would happen at the end, as I've listened to the song a fair amount of times, but the way you wrote it was just….I don't' even have words to describe it. I absolutely love the final two lines - they are absolute perfection.
Beautiful job with this story. I hope to read more of your fics in the future :).
Author's Response: I love Norah Jones music too, it's awesome - her new album is practically begging for songfics. :) I'm glad you liked my characterization, I loathe that delicate flower thing as well so it's very nice to hear that my version of Narcissa worked. Thanks for such a lovely review! :)
Wow wow wow. This was really good! I could totally feel what was going on through Narcissa's head, and I believe this is how a woman would react. The way that desire to kill the girl overpowers her seems so likely. The last few lines were really striking, I could kind of feel the exhilaration that Narcissa felt. I felt really bad for Narcissa in this fic, and though it was not right to kill a person, I understood why she does it.
The way you wrote this story was awesome, you really drew me in. Good job! --Nadia
Author's Response: Thank you! :D I'm glad you liked it! That's good to hear - I was hoping that, while killing isn't right, it would be easy to sympathize with Narcissa, and, if not agree with what she did, at least understand why. Thanks again for reviewing!
Wow. You did a very good job of capturing Narcissa's thoughts. When she repeated words, left some hanging... I'm very impressed. I've always wondered if Narcissa was troubled enough to do something like this or have the guts, because in the series, she seems more like she is on Voldemort's side because she isn't strong enough to believe the other side could win. All she cares about is that her family is alive... Perhaps, since you already did a good job on this story, you could explore that other aspect of her... It's just a thought, and I think you would do rather well with it. :)
Author's Response: Glad you liked it! :) That's a good idea, I've really enjoyed writing Narcissa in the two stories I've done so I may get a little more into that next time. Thanks for reviewing!
