Summary: Harry Potter steps through the veil deep within the Department of Mysteries, sacrificing himself in a final attempt to destroy Voldemort’s last Horcrux and vanquish the Dark Lord once and for all. On the other side Harry is reunited with many of his loved ones, who sadly tell him it is not his time. Despite heart wrenching pain Harry must return to the land of the living to conclude his final battle with Voldemort, with help from a new friend and a surprising source.
This story was written for the Harry’s Hospital Wing Project and was awarded the Order of the Hospital Wing: First Class.
This is gorgeous, Gina. I love that you gave Harry the chance to see his loved ones again, even if it was brief. I'm beginning to think you have the gift of sight since you wrote of Harry's willingness to sacrifice himself and seeing his parents, Dumbledore, and Sirius as ghosts.
I got teary when he was told that he couldn't stay. Poor Harry, all he ever wanted was his parents back and then to have to leave them, guh! It's heart wrenching and beautifully done. I am consistently in awe of your ability to tell a story.
BTW, Happy Birthday!
Author's Response: Thank you so much for the birthday review!! And thanks for reading this old story. I still like it, and yes - weird how Harry really did end up seeing his parents, Sirius, and Dumbly as ghosts, yeah? I really didn't think he'd be a Horcrux, though, because so many people thought so and it seemed too obvious. So I was wrong about that. But at least I sent him back, sad as it was! I always meant to write a sequel--I was really thinking that locked room would have something to do with the end, but I guess not. Anyway, thanks so much for the lovely review! I really appreciate it! ~Gina :)
Summary: Harry and Ginny find a portrait tucked away in the Room of Requirement. It is a painting of a beautiful witch with chocolate brown hair and grey eyes, standing next to a very familiar wizard with long auburn hair and twinkling blue eyes. It is a painting of a couple who were once in love, and who were married at Hogwarts many years past. But fate intervened, and a tragic loss separated them. This is their story, a portrait of love lost – and found.
This story was written for the August Monthly Challenge - Weddings and was awarded first place.
This is a beautiful story. If I had read this before DH I would have had a hard time accepting the canon version. Love it so much!
Author's Response: Thank you Lea! I can't believe you came and read this! I am still awfully proud of it. I sort of wish it were canon myself, just because I like the idea of Dumbledore having loved and lost in this way. Plus she's one of my few OCs that I've written and really liked. Thanks again for coming to read this, I really appreciate it!! ~Gina :)
James Potter has changed: no longer an arrogant, irresponsible prankster, he has matured into a responsible Head Boy with tops marks in Transfiguration. Lily Evans has changed as well: normally studious and in control, she has lost focus as she struggles with Head Girl responsibilities and N.E.W.T level studies. An unexpected encounter in the corridors one weekend leads to several startling realizations, the least of which is that things have definitely changed between James Potter and Lily Evans.
This story was nominated for a 2010 QSQ and is now complete.
SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!! This is just so good. I hope Lily goes easy on him, the poor guy's in love after all. I love this so very much! Can we please see more kissing soon?
Great job with Peter, he's really tough. Most people ignore him or make him unbearable out of a natural inclination to hate him for his future actions. Very well done.
BTW, you're making me have a bit of a crush on James, which is unusual, normally I'm all about Remus all the time, which is not to say I haven't fallen in love with him again as well, but you are testing my loyalty for sure.
Author's Response: Oh, thank you so much for the review - my first 'SQUEEE!' YAY! I'm so glad you are enjoying the story. So you're a Remus fan, then, hm? I must say between this and a drabble I wrote over on the beta forums (which will someday be a story, if you are interested), he is growing closer and closer to my heart. However, I still really fangirl James for some reason, so I'm glad this story is testing your loyalty, it means I'm doing okay by him, lol. And thank you so much for the compliment on Peter! Ugh, he's so tough! You are so right, that people make him a bad character too early because of what he does later - but why would they have been friends with him then? I didn't excpect to give him any moments, but I'm glad I did. If I could get a better grip on his character, I'd write more of him. Ah well. Thanks again for the lovely review! I'm sending the next chapter off and there may or may not be more kissing! ;) ~Gina :)
I. Love. This. I think this is the best Lily/James fic I have read. James is the perfect balance of hopeful and unsure. Poor guy doesn't know what to think now that it seems like he might get what he wants.
Your Lily is great too. I love that she is confused and doesn't handle things perfectly. I was squeeing while I read this. I can't wait for an update. Please make this a loooooong story.
Author's Response: Wow, thanks for the amazing review! That totally made my day. :) I am so glad you are enjoying it. I'm especially glad you like how James and Lily have turned out as characters. I love James more and more every time I write him. :) The story isn't too long, as I don't want to drag out their finally getting together, so I hope you like how it turns out. Update should be soon! Thank you so much for reading this story, and for the wonderful review! I really appreciate it! ~Gina :)
Yay for the kissing, but you're killing me here! Poor James, he has terrible luck with timing, but he is such a great guy! The crush is steadily growing.
I really love this fic, you write these characters incredibly well.
Author's Response: Ha ha - just wait, the timing gets worse, lol! I'm glad you liked the kissing. A good J/L kiss always makes me warm and fuzzy, hee hee. Thank you so much for the compliment on these characters, I really appreciate it! Beware, I might write more then, lol! I'm so glad you are enjoying the story, thank you for leaving such a nice review!! ~Gina :)
Harry Potter had seen death - a lot of death. Friends had passed in his lifetime, more so than any one person should ever experience, but how much is too much, even for the Chosen One?
Ron Weasley is dead, leaving behind his wife and his best mate. How can these two cope with their Trio being cut down to two? And when danger lurks in the shadows, can they find the strength to fight for one another?
Ooohh, very tense chapter. I loved the bit where Harry directed Hermione toward the wand, and I'm glad to see that Harry got a few punches in. Excellent chapter, Jess!
Glad you liked it and could survive the wait. Lurve youuuuuuu!
The beginning of this chapter made me cry. I normally don't enjoy fics with Ron being dead, but this is so well written that I'm loving it even if you are depressing the hell out of me.
Haha, the depressing thing...I tend to do that. :D
I needed Harry to be guilt-ridden, because Ron was only an Auror because Harry was. He'll remember that for the rest of his life, I'd think.
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy the rest.
Summary: Not all Voldemort’s victims were on the side of right.
Over a year has passed since the Battle of Hogwarts. Families grieve, but their dead are remembered with honour.
For Draco Malfoy it has been a year of nothing. Merely existing, he is bound tightly to his past as if enveloped in a shroud, unwilling to accept help. It takes a chance encounter on a cobbled street to jerk him into the realisation that he cannot go on like this. A chance encounter with the one person who has most cause to hate him.
But shrouds, however tightly bound, unravel.
A huge thank you to Natalie (hestiajones) who put her laminated canon card in jeopardy by beta'ing this fic and being very supportive all the way through.
Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling. Her lawyers agree, so please don't mistake us. I just like taking the odd liberty (ahem) with her characters (and pairings)
Nominated for two QSQ's in Best Non-Canon Romance and also Best Post Hogwarts story for 2011. Thank you.
Poor Hermione, I want to bat bogey hex Ron so badly, or maybe make him vomit slugs again.
I love the way you're pacing this, it's very believable. I can't wait for the next chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you for reading and reviewing. I wanted this to be plausible so your words mean a lot. Mmm, maybe she should attack him with those birds again. ~Carole~
Summary: She thought having her hair cut would make a difference. Unfortunately, she was right.

Thanks to Carole for her excellent Brit-picking, sentences (heehee), and summary. Thanks also to Gina for agreeing to read through this, for all her suggestions and comments. And finally, to Kara and Lea for their support and encouragement.

Nominated for a QSQ in the Same Sex Pairing category.
Poor Dom, her frustration and anger were extremely well written. I'd love to see you write more of her because you make her so believable.
Author's Response: Thanks, Lea! I am thinking of a sequel - a happier ending!
Sirius Black spends his last Christmas at Grimmauld Place.
This is Gmariam of Ravenclaw writing for the Great Hall Christmas Challenge, Prompt One.
Gina, this is so good! Poor Sirius to have to put up with that miserable lot. I'm glad he got a good shot in at Bellatrix. Love it!
Author's Response: Lea! Thanks so much for reading this and leaving the first review! Haha, remember when we talked about this? Credit where credit is due - thanks for the idea! I loved writing it. I'm glad it turned out okay and you enjoyed it. Poor Sirius. I almost want to write him a sequel and give him some super nice Christmas present or something, lol. Thanks again! ~Gina :)
Summary: Lily Evans finds herself disappointed when James Potter begins dating a new student during seventh year. A casual conversation about how to deal with it leads to unexpected consequences for her…and Sirius Black.
Oh Gina, I'm so glad you finished this and posted it. You are brilliant with dialogue! I hope that you write more dialogue only fics because they work so well for you.
Author's Response: Lea! Thanks so much! This is all your fault, you know! LOL! I'm so glad we've gotten to know each other over AIM - we've had some fun chats, and I'm so glad this popped out of one of them. I wonder what will be next?? I'm glad you liked how the story turned out - thanks for coming by to review it!! *hugs* ~Gina :)
Summary: It's Valentine's Day, seventh year, and James Potter is determined to make it one to remember. Unfortunately, so many things go wrong that Lily Evans will probably remember it for all the wrong reasons.
I love this so much. I just can't seem to stop fangirling you.
Poor James, you are merciless in your dealings with him that I find myself wishing I could help him out a bit, or at least distract Remus from any acts of sabatoge (all for James' benefit, of course). ;)
Cant wait to read more!
~Lea (or is it Elizabeth?)
Author's Response: You and Carole are funny. ;) Thanks for coming to read this story! I'm glad you are enjoying it. Yes, I told you I am just mean, mean, mean to him. I can't even help it anymore, it just happens. I'm sure it must reveal something about my psychological state. I may take you up on your consulting offer, you know, because I'm a bit worried about some of my crazier ideas. Thanks again for the lovely review! ~Gina :)
It was the worst news a father could receive: his son was marrying his worst enemy's daughter.
But for Draco Malfoy, being in the role of the reasonable parent was in itself a debacle as he tried to make the best of a bad situation. But when circumstances forced him to spend more time than he ever cared to with the most irritating Mudblood on the planet, he constantly questioned his sanity, as well as that of his son.
However, Draco might have come to realise that things change, as well as people. Is Hermione Granger Weasley the mad bint he remembered, or were they both a little different this time around?
This story has been nominated for a 2011 Quicksilver Quill Award: Best Non-Canon Romance.
This story has also been nominated for a 2014 Quicksilver Quill Award: Best Humour Story.
Yay for snarky Draco! I love they way you write him, he is so very entertaining. I know that you say writing Dramione is difficult for you, but reading this, you would never be able to tell. Love it!
Snarky Draco keeps me going, I tell you, mate! I love writing Draco snark, but it's the pairing itself that I can't seem to wrap my head around. But, at any rate, I'm glad it doesn't look like a complete smoking mess, lol. Heart you for reviewing!
This was the year. This was the year that Puddlemere United and Keeper Roxanne Weasley were going all the way.
One problem: her brother Fred might have something to say about that... while playing for the opposition.
I love this fic. You do such a great job with the competitive sibling dynamic. You make it so believable, and I adore the ending. It's exactly the way you want Weasleys to behave.
The match was so well written. It was tense and exciting, and really fun to read. I always enjoy your stories and am in awe of your story telling abilities.
Author's Response: Lol, believe me when I tell you that quidditch is a bitch to write, so that it was fun to read is nice. And I thought my use of the broom worked rather well, too. Anyway, typing on my phone sucks, so I will leave you with a squish. Heart you mucho. :) ~JessP
Summary: A stormy summer night leads to a steamy liason between two lost souls.
Oh, Gina, just...wow! I love this so much! I'm honored to be the recipient of your first prof-rated fic. :)
I don't even know what to say. I just keep squeeing. I will have to edit this later because right now I just want to read it again. Thank you so much!
Author's Response: My first Professor fic, and a certain number too, lol. I'm just glad you liked it, even if the rating is scaring people away. ;) Sure, it's smutty, but I think the framing of it works well enough. I really enjoyed writing angsty Remus for you. I've enjoyed chatting with you so much and really appreciate all your help with my other stories. So read it again - and i don't mind another review if you don't want to edit this one! ;) ~Gina :)
Thank you, Carole! I really love this, and the lyrics fit perfectly. It's such a sweet end and it makes me want to forget what happened next, but I love seeing their moments of happiness. This was really lovely. b29;
Author's Response: Lea, I'm so pleased you liked it because it was a bit of a weird one to write. Thank you for reviewing. ~Carole~
Megan Jones had managed to successfully dodge all the normal pitfalls of adulthood: marriage, children, and the need to impress anyone. She didn't understand why everyone insisted that she was miserable, when she was, in fact, enjoying her current lifestyle.
Who would've thought one night could change everything?
Thank you!!! This is so much fun to read, and I second Gina's request for a sequel. I never thought much about Charlie before, but when you write him, wow. I adore this fic. b29;
I'm glad you liked it. I knew I wanted to write Megan for this, but I couldn't think of who to put in the position of her one night stand partner. I thought of Charlie because he woudl be someone that she would sort of know but he wouldn't know her or see her again. She hadn't been counting on having a breakdown (well, neither was I, lol).
Imust brew a sequel. Hmm...
Oh, I forgot, the "big girl drawers" are the best line ever. :) I don't want to spam it up too much, but since I can't edit this will have to do. :D,
XD Gina asked me if I actually talk like that or if I'm really good at spinning snarky lines. I think it's a bit of both, to be honest. I do typically have a smartass comment about everything and hence decided that Megan could share this quality. :D
I'll have to write a sequel now, hehe.
Summary: Life is never smooth between lovers, especially when you wake up with them everyday.A tiny and fun one-shot featuring Scorpius/Hugo. This is for you, Lea. I really hope you like it! Thanks to Kara for being my eternal beta-reader. :D DISCLAIMER: I am not JK Rowling.
Natalie, thank you so much for this! You have converted me to your ship.
You really did such a great job making this a real situation. Everyone has had ridiculous arguments with their significant others, and there will always be something that drives you crazy about them. You capture that feeling so well. I will be squeeing every time I read this! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Author's Response: Uhm.
Summary: Allow the infamous Mrs Zabini to give you a peek into her mind.Adapted from my drabble, Her First Kill, written for Brawl Round 4. DISCLAIMER: I am not J.K.Rowling.
I love the way you've written her. Her indifference and boredom make me sad for her, even though she is a murderer. How horrible to be reminded of that first experience forever.
You've made me want to hear about all of the other husbands. *hugs*
Author's Response: You've made me want to write about all of the other husbands. :D Thanks for the reviewww! <333
