My personal involvement in the world of Harry Potter began in the summer of 1998 or '99, when a mother desperate to entertain two young children on a long road trip purchased a set of books from a nearby grocery store. These books were the first two in a series of seven, though no others had been published at the time. At first, the mother read out loud to the children, but by the midway point of the first book the older son had began to read through them on his own, and, not to be outdone, his little sister soon had to read them for herself as well.
Thus, a love for reading was born, the true catalyst for the making of a future bibliophile. Harry Potter had rocked my second-grade world.

Now, at the end of the series, I satisfy my yen for all things Potter through the fanfiction written by others. Maybe, soon, I'll post my own...
